Funeral Services: Your Options

As the saying goes, 'In the midst of life, we are in death.' Losing a loved one or thinking about planning your own funeral is very going to be a very nice or easy process. However, it is an unavoidable fact of life that at some point we all have to face our own mortality. Last year, after losing my mother and father in close succession and making the arrangements for their funerals and burial, I decided to put some plans in place for my own funeral service so that it is easier for those I leave behind. I have learnt a lot about funerals and I would like to share it here.

The Benefits of Webcasting a Funeral

Many people think of funerals as depressing and sombre events. But what if this stigma didn't exist? This article talks about how webcasting a funeral service can bring some joy to these events.

What is webcasting?

Webcasting is the process of broadcasting live video on the internet using either a dedicated webpage or through social media platforms like Facebook or YouTube. This allows those who couldn't be there in person to watch the proceedings remotely. The funeral service can be viewed by anyone from any location with an internet connection.

What are the benefits?

1. You can record the service

One of the greatest advantages of webcasting a funeral service is that you can record the service so that you can watch it again later. Rather than scrambling to write things down or fumbling around with your phone, you can watch the service as many times as you like from the comfort of your own home. With advanced webcasting technology and a high-quality video camera, it's easy to create an archive of your loved one's funeral service.

2. You can share it with people who couldn't be there

Webcasting a funeral service allows people who were unable to attend in-person to still participate in some way by watching it online. This includes members of the family and friends, employers, business associates, colleagues, teachers, and other acquaintances. Allowing them to watch the service in this way means that it touches more people, and they will have a greater opportunity to say their goodbyes. Personal video tributes are a great way to personalise this experience for those who could not attend in person; it also allows them to feel like they were there.

3. You reduce the carbon footprint of the service

People travelling long distances by plane, train or car to attend a funeral can create a large carbon footprint. Burning fossil fuels to travel to the funeral, plus the carbon-emitting process of webcasting a service, all create an environmental impact. By webcasting a funeral service, you can significantly reduce this footprint, helping to protect the environment for future generations.

4. You reduce the cost of the service for friends and family

You don't have to worry about the expense of accommodation and/or travel. If you know that it will be difficult for certain groups of people to attend, then webcasting is a great way to reach them and give them the opportunity to pay their respects.
